Bringing Home the Beauty of Nature
For more than four decades, California photographers Elizabeth and Olof Carmel have explored and documented the world’s most inspiring landscapes—from the high granite peaks of the Sierra Nevada and the historic landscapes of Europe to the remote frontiers of Patagonia and Iceland.
Olof & Elizabeth believe deeply in the healing presence of the natural world. For over thirty years, they have dedicated their vision to translating this awe and wonder into archival fine art prints known for their luminous light and distinctive artistic voice. They are profoundly honored to see this vision resonate within the private collections of thousands of individuals worldwide. Whether it is a Limited Edition Work or an accessible Open Edition, every piece is a reflection of this journey—a commitment to capturing the enduring beauty of the natural world and bringing its sense of peace, wonder, and restorative energy into your daily life.
Their photographs are offered as museum-quality fine art prints, professionally produced with archival materials and crafted in a range of contemporary and classic presentations, including fine art paper, gallery-wrapped canvas, metal, and acrylic. Each piece is made to order, carefully packaged, and shipped directly to your address.

Elizabeth Carmel is an award-winning landscape photographer whose career has spanned more than four decades of exploring and documenting the natural world. Recognized for her exceptional detail, vibrant yet nuanced color, and a refined sense of atmosphere, her work is a testament to the enduring beauty and healing power of the wilderness.
In 2006, Elizabeth achieved one of the highest honors in the industry when she was selected as a Hasselblad Master, one of only twelve photographers worldwide to receive the title that year. This mastery of technique and vision is evident in her two acclaimed photography books: Brilliant Waters: Portraits of Lake Tahoe, Yosemite, and the High Sierra, which features a foreword by Robert Redford, and The Changing Range of Light: Portraits of the High Sierra. Beyond the gallery wall, Elizabeth has sought to bring the restorative energy of the outdoors into modern spaces through NatureStream.tv. As the founder of this platform, she produces high-resolution nature films and video art specifically designed to promote calm, focus, and restoration. This mission to provide a visual sanctuary informs every aspect of her still photography, which has been exhibited at prestigious institutions including the California Museum of Photography and the Nevada Museum of Art.
Elizabeth’s work is offered in two distinct presentations to suit the needs of every collector. Her flagship Limited Edition Prints are limited to editions of 50 across all sizes, ensuring the exclusivity and legacy value of the artistic vision. Deeply committed to the conservation of the landscapes she captures, Elizabeth frequently donates her professional photography services to organizations working to protect the Sierra Nevada Mountains. By partnering with organizations dedicated to protecting the precious wilderness of the Sierra region, she hopes that the natural beauty that inspires her work is preserved for future generations to experience and enjoy.

Olof Carmel brings a lifelong passion for wilderness, light, and craftsmanship to his photography and structural designs. He began his professional career in a prominent San Francisco Bay Area custom black-and-white lab and later worked and photographed as a backcountry ranger with the National Park Service, including extended time in Yosemite and assignments in parks such as Denali, Glacier, Mt. Rainier, and Rocky Mountain. His images are widely collected and celebrated for their subtle, expressive use of impressionism, light and mood. Olof’s photographs are offered as limited editions of 200 across all sizes.
Beyond his photography, Olof is an accomplished designer and builder. His skill as a craftsman is woven into the history of the business; he personally built both of the gallery buildings that the Carmels operated in Truckee and Calistoga. He also designed and built the family’s custom home in Truckee, reflecting a deep dedication to fine woodworking and architectural detail.
Olof and Elizabeth are proud to share their creative legacy with their daughter, Abbey Carmel. A graduate of UC Santa Cruz with degrees in film and art, Abbey brings her own artistic vision to the family’s creative journey. Abbey recently collaborated with Elizabeth on the documentary "Trails and Vistas", the Art in Nature Project founded by a Truckee arts non-profit, available to view at NatureStream.tv.
